Sponsor a Rider for PCHAS

Three incredible cyclists, Rick Presser, David Brenner and Jared Schreher, will be participating in the Ride Across Texas to raise money for Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services (PCHAS). The ride is a 1,000 mile race that spans from Texarkana, Texas to Tucumcari, New Mexico. The route features over 90% dirt/gravel roads and approximately 25,000 feet of climbing. Below, Rick, David and Jared explain why they ride for PCHAS.

I began riding in 2008 to improve my health, but over the years, riding came to mean more to me. The quietness helps me separate the unimportant matters from the important matters in life. I felt the Lord wanted me to do something to give my riding meaning, so I chose to ride for PCHAS. The children PCHAS serves are traveling a rough road in life and they need to know that people care about them. My hope is that in some small way, I can have a positive impact on these kids through PCHAS. I hope you consider sponsoring me, either per mile or through a general gift. Your support means the world to not only me, but more importantly, to the children and families PCHAS serves.

-Rick Presser

My father passed away in 2016 due to complications from alcoholism, and that's when I chose riding to keep my body in good working condition. Beyond the health benefits, I've found on the bike I have a lot of space to think about the things going on in my life and in others' lives. I realized quickly I need to be more than just another guy riding a bike. My purpose for riding has to be bigger than me to make it truly worthwhile. My "epic" rides benefit charitable causes, so I'm riding for PCHAS in the Ride Across Texas. The road Rick and I are traveling is quite rough, but it has a definite finish. The children PCHAS serves have a much rougher road in life and many of them can't imagine the end of their troubles. Every mile we put behind us means we've earned your generous donations for these children and their families.

-David Brenner

Cycling for me started in 1986 after watching the Tour de France. My very first bike ride was only six miles, and I was sore for days. By 1989, I was racing both road and mountain bikes in upstate New York. Racing and riding throughout the years lead me to give "bikepacking" a try. This means covering one-day distances of over 100 miles on rough dirt roads and getting up and going it again, for several days in a row. In February this year, Rick Presser and I were brainstorming about the Ride Across Texas and Rick suggested riding for a charity. That idea blossomed into us riding for PCHAS. By sponsoring me on this adventure, you are helping the children and families PCHAS serves and making their rough road a little smoother. Please consider a per/mile donation or a one-time gift, because every dollar will make a difference. Thank you very much!
